What is a Lifestyle Session?

A lifestyle session aims to capture the everyday moments in a beautiful way. It’s captured in your home or outdoors in a spot that has meaning to you. Lifestyle photography captures the essence of you and your family, with minimal posing and no additional props . . . except what’s already in your everyday life!

With newborns and families, it aims to capture those little details – such as the tiny toes, the way they hold onto your finger, the swaddling, the feedings, or your whole family cuddling on the bed.

With couples, I’ll capture how you look at each other, unboxing the boxes as you move into your new house, making dinner, or sharing a cup of coffee together.

Do i need to clean the house?

I recommend some decluttering and a basic tidy, but the house doesn’t need to be perfect.

I’ll have a quick, initial walk through to see where the best lighting might be – and maybe I’ll suggest something strange like drinking coffee in the hallway instead of the kitchen because the light is better in the hallway!

What do we wear?

Avoid logos and bright colors. My “go-to” is usually jeans and a sweater or jeans and a clean t-shirt. A cute hat, belt, shoes, and accessories is always welcomed.

I recommend minimal colors for children as well, so that I can capture some truly timeless portraits.

How long does the session go for?

Lifestyle sessions usually last for 1-2 hours. If there is a particular activity you want captured, but it’s at a certain time of day (i.e. - putting your little one to sleep), then we’ll book the session around that time. Other activities like baking, story time, making a fire in the fireplace, etc. can easily be re-created.

Sometimes when inspiration strikes I offer mini sessions - essentially a FLASH SALE of my family sessions in a 15-20 minute format at a designated time and place.
